Eunotia hexaglyphis is fairly distinct within the genus. It is distinguished from other large Eunotia species with dorsal undulations by its more weakly arched and narrower valves, by its protracted rostrate to subcapitate apices and by the number of undulations (4-6) on the dorsal side. Eunotia bilii has 5-8 dorsal undulations and protracted apices, with blunt ends.
